Wyoming is an extremely tax-friendly state and does not have a state income tax.  Compared to other states, such as California with a 9.3% state income tax, substantial savings can be noticed by becoming a Wyoming resident.  Wyoming does not have any intangible taxes on real estate, such as a sales tax or transfer tax.  In 2005, Wyoming was ranked as the second most tax-friendly state for retirement by Bloomberg.
